It’s been a hellish wintry landscape within Baltimore this month. We’ve seen temperatures below 10º, and while areas in the United States can frequently see lower, it’s uncharacteristically low for Baltimore. While it’s discouraged us from leaving the house, we’ve been able to get caught up on a lot of video games.

There’s a reality of growing older that doesn’t allow you to do what you’ve always done. It isn’t because we’ve necessarily grown out of the things that we love, but that we have other things that require our time and attention. It’s what makes times like these enjoyable. Although we wish for warmer weather, the forced hibernation is welcomed in a way.

It’s allowing us to get lost in new worlds. We’re able to better ourselves in the competitive games that we love.

It’s been a month of stepping back from reality and responsibility and going somewhere else for a while. It can’t stay like this; nothing can. Yet, until it does, we’ll be enjoying the caves of our lives.
