Share

It’s time for another year’s worth of predictions, as made by The Free Cheese. On The Free Cheese Episode 230, we read our hopes, dreams, and expectations for the year. Below, we’ve detailed them all out for the record keeping. Let’s see what we think will happen.

  1. Virtual Console launches by March. It features games from both console and handheld. By the end of the year, we’ll see the release of at least one set of Joy-Con themed after a legacy platform.
  2. Tony Hawk puts his name on another video game this year. It isn’t as bad as the last time.
  3. Konami announces a new Castlevania game.
  4. Sega releases a followup to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
  5. After ten years, Nintendo revives the Wars series and gives it the Fire Emblem treatment. It’s exclusive to Nintendo 3DS.
1. Atomic purple Joy-Con
2. Raziel (Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver) makes a comeback in some way.

4. Phantasy Star Online 2 in US on Switch
5. Blasphemous will be one of our GOTY contenders for 2018.
  1. Final Fantasy makes a big splash this year.  Final Fantasy VII remake is shown off at E3 and part 1 is dated for Holiday 2018. Final Fantasy XV is announced for Switch and comes out summer 2018.

  3. A Syphon Filter game of some kind is announced

  4. Konami brings back Silent Hill.
  5. Sega launches another mini console to compete with NES & SNES Classic.

Ako Diakoparaskevas
  1. Soul Calibur 6’s guest character is 2B from NieR: Automata. If the game is announced for Switch, Marth will be the guest character.

  4. Super Mario Odyssey DLC will contain a spooky haunted world.
  5. Devil May Cry 5 releases at the end of the year.

We’ll see how we did this time next year. Leave your own predictions in the comments section below to be eternally engraved in the time capsule of this article. Also, it should be noted that as a collective, The Free Cheese obviously believes and stands behind the declaration that “Region Free Means Mother 3” and that this is finally the year that it leaves Japan.
