There’s an invisible entity that lives within this world. It walks among us but only for a month. You can feel its presence lurking throughout the year. Every time you feel a chill run down your spine. It’s there when you walk alone at night. It’s hiding in the back room of the basement when you can’t find the light switch. That noise you think you heard is real, but you’ll never know it.

Until one day just after the autumn equinox, when a shift occurs in the balance of our world. October 1 signifies the alteration in the ether. There’s nothing tangible about it, but it’s easy to know the feeling when it happens. A combination of the weather, the smell in the air, and the way you’re mind begins to tickle with thought all signify the entrance of this being that’s with us.

En masse, we dress our world down to match its dying state as we prepare for the ultimate day of celebration. Monsters and ghosts, spiders and candles decorate our homes and streets. We count down the days until the end of the month when it takes full form. It wanders with us from streetlight to streetlight collecting treats and playing tricks as we perpetuate the ritual.

Our cover story this month is a bit different than our usual. Typically, we cover a single topic and use it as a filter to look at specific games and themes through a particular lens. This month, we’re simply celebrating the season. We all love Halloween and the feeling in the air as our world changes color and ushers in our dependence on hooded sweatshirts and pumpkins.

To celebrate, we’re going to play games that embody the season. We want to be scared. We want to be excited. We want to celebrate the fall.

Stay tuned all month long as we dress up the website in our nightmares and share our deepest fears through games.
