Balloon Fight was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. The game involves players pressing the button to stay afloat while trying to defeat enemies, or in an alternate gameplay mode collect balloons.

Balloon Fight was programmed by Satoru Iwata, who would later become the President of Nintendo. With the recent news of his death, we recommend exploring this title if you never have before. It is a very basic premise, but much like most games from the time you can lose yourself for a while trying to best your high score or your friend on the couch.

We still see this game’s legacy throughout titles today, including Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where the Villager uses balloons and flaps his arms as a recovery move.
