Today during Nintendo’s Digital Live Event at E3, the company announced the release date for Hyrule Warriors on September 26. The game merges the world of The Legend of Zelda and the style of Dynasty Warriors to create a new hack-and-slash game. Players can control Link, and Nintendo confirmed today that you can also take control of Princess Zelda, Midna, or Impa.

The new characters mark the first time that any of the three are playable, outside of a playable Princess Zelda in the Philips CD-i, but we try to forget about those games. Hyrule Warriors looks like it could be a lot of fun to play, and the fact that it pulls in the world of The Legend of Zelda makes it that much more intriguing.
